I had the exact problem, I dragged the kindle icon from my desktop and threw it in the trash and cleared it. I opened the finder and search for kindle and opened it . Everything works fine, books downloaded with no error message.

Kindle for Mac is one of the most popular e-readers, which lets you read and sync the entire library with your Kindle. With a Kindle download, you can purchase loads of books on the internet, and have them delivered to your Mac device. The program automatically syncs everything to improve your reading experience. It supports a wide range of languages, including English, French, Brazilian, Spanish, Portuguese, and Italian. Last but not least, Kindle for Mac provides support for collections, giving you more control over organizing your books in the Kindle library.

Kindle for Mac comes with built-in synchronization technologies, which automatically save your reading progress. As such, you can pick up from where you left on other devices. Most importantly, Kindle for Mac lets you check reviews and try out books before making the purchase. You can also choose from loads of free content available on the Amazon Store.

With this app, you can get book extras from Shelfari, the user-generated encyclopedia for reading enthusiasts. Additionally, you get access to important places, character descriptions, themes, popular quotes, and book-specific glossaries.

A progress bar will appear, but not for long: ebooks download quickly. Kindle for Mac will open the book for you right away, and you can start reading or click the Library button to head back and download more ebooks.

Downloaded ebooks will show a checkmark on their cover in your Kindle for Mac library, along with a percentage completed tracker. They will also appear in the Downloaded section of the Library list.

To jump to particular chapters or sections in your Kindle for Mac ebook, click the icon with three stacked lines beside three short lines to access the Table of Contents. From here, click on whichever chapter or header you want to start reading from.

Want to hear your ebook read out loud? Click Tools > Start Text-to-Speech or hit Cmd + T to have your Mac read the ebook text out to you with its Spoken Content voice, moving you through pages as it goes. Hit Cmd + T again or Tools > Stop Text-to-Speech to stop it.

You might find, when you first open an ebook or use Kindle for Mac for the first time, the Notebook is open in one part of the app. The Notebook is a place you can see all your Bookmarks, as well as any Notes and Highlights you make in the ebook.

Bookmarks let you save where you are, or save pages you may frequently visit again, like maps. To leave a bookmark, hit the bookmark icon at the top of the Kindle window, or click the top-right part of an ebook page. To navigate back to a bookmark, click on it within the Notebook Bookmark list.

You can export all your notes and highlights by hitting the Export button in Notebook. It creates and saves an HTML file to your Mac that you can open and print, or open as a webpage and save as a PDF.

Need to delete some highlights or notes in your ebook? Click on the three dot icon to the right of their entries in the Notebook, and select Delete note or Delete highlight.

You can also create flashcards out of your notes and highlights by hitting the + Flashcards button in the Notebook. You can edit and run through these flashcards whenever you want by clicking on the overlapping rectangle icon on the left-most menu of the Kindle for Mac window.

There is a function in the kindle app under File/Import PDF... to open a dialog box to select a pdf file. Selecting a pdf puts it in the library on my Macbook Air but it does not sync to my iPad or my Kindle device.

Click on any word or click and drag over a passage to create a highlight or add a note within a book. Once you've selected text, a pop-up box gives you the option to Highlight, Add Note, Copy, or the More dropdown menu.

Amazon offers an array of choices within its Kindle app. However, some of these offerings require additional subscriptions. For instance, Kindle Unlimited and Prime Reading provide access to a catalog of ebooks and audiobooks at no extra cost after you pay a monthly fee.

The App opens just fine, does not freeze, it installs and runs, etc.. The problem is that none of my eBooks show up on it properly.. i.e. I see all my books but none of them open... So at the moment I can only read them on my iPhone or the Kindle Cloud solution, but not on my brand new Mac... which is very frustrating.

Once you have installed the app on a Mac or PC, and logged into your Kindle account, click on the book that you wish to read. Now click on Tools, then Start Text-to-Speech (or press Ctrl-T on a PC, Cmnd-T on a Mac) to start reading the book from the top of the page. using your computer's default voice. Unfortunately, the app doesn't highlight text as it is read so it can be hard for somebody with reading difficulties to follow the text, but having easy access to decent computer voices is still a significant improvement on earlier versions. [See below for another option to have text read out in a natural, human voice, with highlighting.]

Some Kindle books can be linked with Audible talking books, using 'Whispersync' to provide professional narration, usually by an actor or the author. In this case, text is highlighted as it is read, making it easier to follow.

It is a more expensive method to read books as you have to pay for the Kindle version, as well as the Audible talking book, though there is generally a discount on the price of the Audible book. Not all Audible books can be linked with the Kindle version, and there are far fewer Audible versions of books than Kindle. When you download the Kindle book, you will generally be told if an Audible version is available.

You can convert the Kindle files to other widely used file formats such as PDF, in order to make it easier to read the Kindle book on a wide range of devices. PDFelement for Mac offers you tools for not only reading PDF files, but for editing them and converting them to other formats as well.

If you're at home because of the coronavirus, you have at least saved on the commute and can put that time to more enjoyable use by just reading a good book. When that's all you need, a good book to read for pleasure, then pull up an iPad, browse the Amazon Kindle and Apple Book stores, and you're done.

Unsurprisingly, you will get a much more pleasing experience reading on Apple's Books app. That's both in the way that the text looks and how you buy books. Right from within the Books app, you can buy any book you want and start reading immediately.

Although when we say you can buy any book, there is a limitation. Apple's Book Store has fewer titles than Amazon's Kindle does. Plus, while this does vary, in general books cost more on the Apple store.

You can also leverage email to get books into your apps. If the book came as an attachment on an email, you can drag it from Mail to Kindle or Books on the Mac. On iOS, you can tap and hold to bring up the Share option and then choose Kindle or Books.

That can sometimes be more fiddly than you would hope. The Share extension will be displaying what apps it thinks you're most likely to want to use, and even when you're trying to share a book, it may not realise you need Kindle or Books. 2ff7e9595c
